What’s new in 1.0

  • Now on aescripts + aeplugins. Install, license and update the converter with the aescripts + aeplugins manager app, and try it free for 14 days — type trial in the licence window. See Licensing & support.
  • Your licence, one click away. The icon at the top left of the panel, and the new Edit ▸ License… menu, open the licence window.
  • Gumroad customers keep their existing licence key and activation, and still get updates from the Update Now button in the panel.

A reminder of what the 0.6 releases added, for anyone coming from an earlier version.

  • Light intensities start ten times brighter than before — Octane 100 W now becomes Redshift 10 — and HDRI Dome intensity likewise. Earlier versions consistently came out too dark.
  • UV transforms — Octane UV Transform nodes, and Cinema 4D UVW Transform wrappers, become a Redshift UV Context Projection with matching tiling, rotation and offset.
  • The converter sets up a Redshift render preset after converting, keeping your resolution, frame range and output settings, and Redshift’s menu appears straight away.
  • Colour-correction levels are capped so extreme Octane settings don’t blow out in Redshift.
  • Glass — Octane Specular materials, and Universal or Glossy materials named like glass, become Redshift glass with transmission colour, IOR, thin wall and dispersion.
  • HDRI environments — the Dome light gets the Octane Environment’s power, HDRI image (or the image from a Greyscalegorilla HDRI Link tag) and rotation.
  • Octane Standard Surface materials convert.
  • Bump strength carries across, for classic Octane materials and Standard Surface.
  • Height-bump images on classic Octane materials are picked up when there’s no normal map.
  • A warning about false “missing asset” entries after converting, with the Project Asset Inspector a click away.
  • Strip all Octane tags also removes Octane Object tags across the whole scene.
  • Empty Octane layers are removed when you use a Delete option.
  • Redshift materials are built so they work on current Redshift versions on macOS.
